and frankly, there's also the issue of the fact that, whether spanking is or is not "child abuse" -- it is certainly something else -- lazy parenting. and that is abusive, even if 'hitting your child lightly' (how hard is too hard? who makes that kind of judgment call?). if you need to hit your child to get them to behave, you're making a shortcut to something that you could do by talking to them, but that's more difficult, and requires empathy for the child, something that has to be built from day one to work in the future. and it helps to teach children empathy and understanding rather than violence and domination as a model of healthy mediation of relational conflict.

I never used to like pink up until a few years ago. I guess it might’ve been that whole princess thing that really threw me off. The fact that I was somehow weaker if I wore or liked pink really got to me, and I wasn’t planning on succumbing to anything that would make me feel like less of a champ on the playground or otherwise.
Now, though, I hope I’m a little wiser in embracing girldom, freedom, opinion, and the color pink. I’d have to agree: pink can look strong — and one reason for this might be the fact that I lost my grandmother to breast cancer just a couple of years back, and she was strong as hell. I started wearing the color after that as a sort of “fuck you” to the thing that had stolen my grandmother and other women in my family. If anything, pink is an incentive or representation of an army for girl power both emotionally and physically.
(also, Mattie, HOW DO YOU WRITE LIKE THIS. I’m currently working on college app essays and could use a dose of whatever you’ve got. awesome job, as always).

The operators of the Telegraphs used Morse code which was invented by Samuel Morse. Morse code worked by sending a series of electrical signals along the Telegraph which on paper would come out as dots and dashes and would be translated to Letters of the Alphabet by the operator. The name Dah is another way of saying Dash. The Telegraph was Invented during the Western Expansion and Reform, The Telegraph was needed in this time because there was no way of sending long Distance messages in a very short amount of time.

"Subjects" of some kind there must be, of course. One cannot learn the theory of grammar without learning an actual language, or learn to argue and orate without speaking about something in particular. The debating subjects of the Middle Ages were drawn largely from theology, or from the ethics and history of antiquity. Often, indeed, they became stereotyped, especially towards the end of the period, and the far-fetched and wire-drawn absurdities of Scholastic argument fretted Milton and provide food for merriment even to this day. Whether they were in themselves any more hackneyed and trivial than the usual subjects set nowadays for "essay writing" I should not like to say: we may ourselves grow a little weary of "A Day in My Holidays" and all the rest of it. But most of the merriment is misplaced, because the aim and object of the debating thesis has by now been lost sight of.
