4 If you can document facts showing that the bullying is based on sex or gender, you should do it because Title IX covers only sex and gender-based bullying and harassment. (See our article on "Gebser letters " in our newsletter). In some cases, it can require close scrutiny and a thorough understanding of the law to determine whether a particular form of conduct may trigger a student and parent's legal rights under Title IX. For this and other reasons, we strongly encourage parents to consult a qualified attorney in serious cases of bullying or sexual harassment.
• Do not repeat materials that are already on the application. – Don’t say ‘My major is Physics’ because you have already said that somewhere else. Instead say ‘While I majored in Physics I also took …’ or ‘My Physics major enabled me to take special courses in… and…’. Do mention your knowledge and experience in the field at the university level. It is usually a poor idea to mention your high school experience unless something exceptional happened at that time that changed your life or affected your career choice. Follow these guidelines and your personal statement for graduate school will stand out among all personal statement submitted.
I am a thinker, but not one to think out loud. I love myself, but am not in love with the sound of my own voice. I want to be loved, but not at the cost of not loving myself. I want to know everything, but realize that nothing can ever be known for sure. I believe that nothing is absolute, but I can absolutely defend my beliefs. I understand that chance is prevalent in all aspects of life, but never leave anything important to chance. I am skeptical about everything, but realistic in the face of my skepticism. I base everything on probability, but so does nature...probably.
